Day 20 – Lynn’s anniversary

Hello from Daisy M and Sylvie,
Today was Lynn’s anniversary, a whopping 39 years so we thought we would celebrate her day with a visit from the Lord Mayor of Kampala. It was a slow start as he decided to show up and hour and a half late! However, we were all cheered up by a lovely brunch made by the cooking team here at NKB. Afterwards, we fulfilled ourselves with nail painting and playing games with all the lovely litlens which was SUPER time consuming and crazy. As the Mayor entered the villa the crowd went crazy as he was followed up with a lovely welcome from the pearl of africa choir. His speech was inspirational for some more than others potentially a little to long lasting. However, we were quickly put in a good mood as we got a coaster to the mayor’s office itself. Yippee!! Only to the disappointment of another long speech. However as a positive we left the office having learnt the national anthem. God save our gracious king. When we returned back to the school we put our feet up and received a tremendous dinner followed by a ton of emiyembe (mango) as we chanted for more. Yet again to our surprise the constant theme of Lynn’s anniversary sparked as Courtney brought over her spectacular cake which she kindly shared with what we like to say are her two grandchildren (us).
P.s Lynn also had a cheeky dance with the mayor (don’t tell her husband else there may not be a 40th).
