Day 21/26th of July
Woke up to the last day of the wakeup playlist (so no more hotel california!!) And the last day of staying in a molly and Paul school. It was a bittersweet feeling as we all recognised the fact that there would be no more visits, no more excited children welcoming us through the gates of their charming schools but the feeling of excitement as the safari draws ever closer.
We left the school in the morning to visit a market in kampala, on the way experiencing the chaos that is the road network that must accommodate the most drivers in the world. After walking around the market (which was basically a multistory car park with people selling stuff in it) we walked back to nkb where we had a heartfelt goodbye song from the pearl of africa choir whose energetic performances we all thoroughly enjoyed. We boarded the coasters after a final farewell from ‘uncle paul’ and left for bushpig, again experiencing some of ugandas finest drivers on the way. We got to bushpig after a short 20 minute drive and were given keys to our rooms. I was a bit confused when a group of us were seemingly left behind only to find out we were staying in Acacia villa down the road (which arguably has a far better feel to it). We then left the villa to meet up altogether at a nearby shopping centre that had a lot more to offer than I expected with ice cream stalls, supermarkets, a full gaming setup and an entire KFC! After an hour or so in the shopping centre we all marched our way back to bushpig to eat dinner, I recommend the pulled pork loaded fries. An all around good day overall and I cant wait to explore some of kampala tomorrow.
