This morning, we were woken up by the very loud morning playlist as usual however, most people were rather tired due to a late night (3 am) watching the very exciting world Cup game! Its coming home!! Then we headed down for a lovely breakfast at 7:30 which consisted of a variety of hot drinks, cereal, juicy pineapple, toast and a scrambled egg/ omelette mixture. All dressed up in our smartest clothes, we set out early to get to church. We walked over to the village of Kamuzinda at 8:30 to arrive at 9 despite the church service beginning at 6am! When we arrived we were welcomed with open arms and had been saved many rows of seats. Soon after our arrival, we enjoyed many songs by both primary and secondary school children before having many locals explain to us the impact the Molly and Paul Foundation has had on the community. This all was done in lugandan but we were very lucky to have a translator who repeated everything in English. Towards the end of the service the village announcements and sermons were made for at least an hour and we were happy to learn of numerous weddings and extra services! After a brief mingle with village residents we walked back to the school and chilled out before lunch. Today for lunch we were all surprised by an enormous tray of chips which made every one ecstatic! There was also coleslaw, pineapple and every part of a chicken possible. Again, as today was a rest day, we chilled out after lunch and played football, catch and cards before a hoard of many primary school children charged into the square for hours of lego, duplo and colouring which was enjoyed more by some than others. The children hung around until dinner and we played many games with them throughout this time. As the sun set this evening we quickly discovered a power cut resulting in a dark dinner. Today’s dinner was chapatti, bean curry, yam and a green mixture which, of course, was followed by an overflowing tray of watermelon which was thoroughly enjoyed. After a quick team meeting deciding jobs for tomorrow everyone settled down and played board games excited for a full day tommorow of brick laying, trench digging and painting!
